No opposites

I had started the day on a happy note. But at about noon, the call came in.

Someone I respect broke the news. It was a bad one. I wasn’t prepared for it.

I felt sad.

Sad, is not the opposite of happy. I have heard it being said sometimes and I believe differently.

Each time I hear it, I cringe.
